DZG Bear Ravine

Preserve – to maintain something in its original state.

Dudley Zoological Gardens is home to the largest collection of Tecton buildings worldwide.  A radical group of architects known as the Tecton Group and were commissioned to design 13 structures, which were revealed to the public at the opening of the Zoo in 1937.  The preservation of these structures has become internationally renowned due to the recognition of their influence in the development of modernist architecture.  Over the years the structures have slowly fallen into disrepair; one of the worst being the Bear Ravine.
